A bit more about me.
Many things have come together to bring both you and me here, right now. My life has been a ride of ups and downs, celebration, joy, death, loss, and everything in between. Throughout all of this, I have never let go of my desire to be of service and to live this life as fully as possible. I have also never let go of my love of learning, growing, and evolving along with everything else on this planet.
I’ve spent the last decade of my professional career developing a skillset focused around holistic well-being, somatic therapeutics, depth psychology, herbalism, rites of passage, women’s body sovereignty, and the ritual arts to better serve my own healing, so I may offer it back to community from an embodied place. We cannot take people to places we ourselves have not been.
After completing a BA in International Studies in 2013, I spent years in the non-profit and education world, leading transformational youth development programming and still offer programs around rites of passage, nature education, social-emotional skills, experiential learning, ethical travel & cultural competency, and DEIJA. As well, I have spent time in advocacy and program work for refugees, immigrants, women fleeing violence, environmental justice, Indigenous sovereignty, and animal rights.
I believe strongly in decolonizing myself, my work, and helping others do the same. I currently reside as a guest on the ancestral lands of the Tla-o-qui-aht Nation, colonially named Tofino. Though I was born here on Turtle Island, my ancestors are from Europe, specifically Scotland, Ireland, Germany, and England as far as I know.
Most of all though, I think, I am an artist, poet, dreamer, myth maker, dancer, and lover of the natural world.
My Approach, Teachers, and Influences
Currently, I am completing a year long ICF (International Federation of Coaching) accredited Somatic Coaching program that focus on how to coach in a de-colonial, anti-oppressive, client-focused way. As a coach, my goal is to partner with you to help you connect with your deep self, and maximize your potential in an aligned, conscious way.
I have also completed the trauma-informed Somatic Facilitation and Education certification with the Somatic Institute for Women that allowed me to study under teachers such as David Bedrick, Maanae Chrystal, Jenny Hale, and Dr. Saida Deselits. I have completed many other trauma-informed mental health and somatic trainings over the past few years, and am influenced by SE (Somatic Experiencing) and IFS (Internal Family Systems), the grief and activism work of Joanna Macey, Francis Weller, Martin Prechtel, as well as the eco-pyschology work of Bill Plotkins. I also am a student of depth psychology and believe in the power of myth, dreams, and the collective unconscious. I absolutely love the work of Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes, and have studied her method of dreamwork, as well as with Toko-Pa Turner.
I received my RYT 200hr yoga & meditation teacher certification in 2018 in India and often incorporate these modalities along with breathwork, into my offerings. I practice and teach AcroYoga, which is a beautiful and playful practice in communication, consent, trust, body connection, and boundaries. I have also trained with Dance the Medicine to facilitate conscious dance gatherings.
On my path to becoming a clinical herbalist which began in 2018, I have had the honour of studying with Chanchal Cabrera, Seraphina Capranos, Jasmyn Clift and Storii Wild as well as with Pacific Rim College in their Diploma of Phytotherapy program. I also have studied Ayurveda in India and Nepal.
I am currently in Year 2 of the Dark Woods Grief Tending & Ritual Facilitation Training with Josea Crossley, and offer facilitation, coaching and support around grief, death, transition, and loss.
